Dmitry Ivanovich Vinogradov (1720–1758) was born in Suzdal. Having received an education at the Slavic Greek Latin Academy in Moscow, Vinogradov, among the best students, furthered his studies in St. Petersburg. After that, he studied up miningengineering and mines in Germany. On his return home, he set about creating porcelain production in the country as directed by Empress Elizabeth of Russia.
In a few years, Vinogradov built up a factory with well-established porcelain production. The porcelain manufactory produced articles for the Imperial Court, which were often used as diplomatic gifts.
The commemorative stamp provides D.I. Vinogradov’sportrait; the central image features items of the Neva porcelain manufactory: a service plate, an oval basket from the service of Empress Elizabeth of Russia, a porcelain sweets bowl with a lid (
Stavok) made by D. Vinogradov.
In addition to the issue of the envelope with a commemorative stamp, JSC
