On May 28, a postal stamp dedicated to poet Sergei A. Esenin was put into postal circulation in the frame of a cooperative issue of Communication Boards of member countries of the RCC



Sergei A. Esenin (1895−1925) was born in a village of Konstantinovo in Ryazan Governorate.

The poet’s writing had a noticeable impact on the Russian lyrics of the first half of the XX century. Many poetics by S. Esenin are translated into foreign languages, some of them are set to music, and they sounded in films.

The postal stamp provides an image of S. Esenin’s portrait against a lyric scene and a RCC emblem.

In addition to the issue of the postal stamp, JSC Marka will produce First Day Covers and first day cancels for Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ryazan and Vologda, as well as an illustrated envelope with four postal stamps and a cover with a cancel for Moscow inside.
