On May 15, two stamps dedicated to the 150th birth anniversary of Aleksander N. Benois, painter, was put into postal circulation



Alexander Nikolaevich Benois (1870–1960) was a Russian painter, art historian, art critic, founder and chief ideologist of The World of Art.

Among the outstanding paintings by Benois, we will name the following: Military Parade of Emperor Paul I (1907, State Russian Museum), Entry of Empress Catherine II in the Tsarskoye Selo Palace (1909, State Art Gallery of Armenia, Yerevan), Petersburg Street at the Time of Peter I (1910, private collection in Moscow) and Peter I Strolling in the Summer Garden (1910, State Russian Museum).

The stamps provide images of paintings A.N. Benois’ Portrait by L.S. Bakst (1898, State Russian Museum) and Military Parade of Emperor Paul I (1907, State Russian Museum) by A. N. Benois.

In addition to the issue of the postal stamps, JSC Marka will produce First Day Covers and special cancels for Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as an illustrated envelope with a label.

Form of issue: sheet with illustrated margins of 10 (2×5) stamps.
