On January 31, a block dedicated to artist Arkady Plastov (1893–1972) was put into postal circulation



Arkady A. Plastov (1893-1972) was an artist, Academician of the Academy of Arts of the USSR (1947), people’s artist of the USSR (1962).

Plastov's artworks account for nearly 10,000 paintings, which belong to the golden collection of Russian culture. The most famous paintings are Bathing of Horses (1938), Haymaking (1945), Spring. In a Bath House (1954), Grandson is drawing (1959), Midday (1961), Mother (1964).

The postal block provides a Self-portrait at Sunset (1969–1971) against the painter’s studio and an image of the logotype of the Russian Academy of Arts, the stamp presents a fragment of the Midday (1961) painting (1961, State Russian Museum).

In addition to the emission of the postal block, JSC Marka will produce First Day Covers and special cancels for Moscow, St. Petersburg and Ulyanovsk as well as illustrated envelopes for the postal block with labels and the second emission type: an imperforated postal block made on canvas-type design paper.
