On June 27 an official cancellation ceremony of postage stamp dedicated to International Day of Parliamentarism



The event was attended by Valentina Matvienko, Chairman of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, and Oleg Dukhovnitsky, Head of the Federal Communications Agency.

The holiday was established by the UN at the initiative of Russia. The corresponding resolution was approved by 22 May 2018 at the 72th session of the General Assembly UN in New York. More than a hundred countries have joined the resolution, agreeing to become its co-authors. International Day of Parliamentarism is celebrated from June 30, 2018. This day is intended to emphasize the importance of the parliamentary system and the role of parliaments in improving the lives of people around the world. Parliaments reflect the opinion of the people, pass laws, allocate funds to enforce laws, policies, and make appropriate demands to governments.

Today there was a stamp dedicated to the International Day of Parliamentarism with a circulation of 126 thousand copies , which shows the logo of the Inter-Parliamentary Union against the background of the Russian tricolor . This is the personification of Russia's leading role in making key decisions on the world stage , the head of Rossvyaz said.
