On June 18, a stamp dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Central Museum of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation was issued



The Central Museum of the Armed Forces is one of the largest military-historical museums in the world. Founded in December 1919. The museum exposition is located in 24 halls and in the open area. It reflects the history of the Armed Forces of the Fatherland from the moment of their inception on a regular basis to the present.

The collection includes more than 800 thousand museum items, including: relics related to the life and work of the heroes of national history, both ordinary and famous commanders and statesmen; banners, awards, weapons and equipment, uniforms and equipment, including trophy items. On the open observation deck, more than 150 samples of military equipment and armaments are presented: from artillery shells from the times of the Civil War of 1918–1922. up to modern ballistic missiles.

The museum regularly organizes and holds exhibitions both on its territory and on the territory of museums and exhibition complexes of Moscow and other regions of Russia.

The postage stamp depicts the building and the emblem of the Central Museum of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

In addition to the issue of a postage stamp of JSC “Marka”, the first day envelope was issued and stamps of special cancellation were made for Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as art covers with vignettes and unmarked cards.
