Beekeeping is an agriculture branch dealing with the maintenance of bee colonies in order to collect their honey, beeswax, and other products, as well as to pollinate crops to increase crop yield. Production and distribution of honey and beeswax are referred to in many chronicles. The environmental conditions in the country contributed to a significant development of this branch. The stamps feature different kinds of beekeeping, such as wild honey harvesting, honey hunting, box hive beekeeping, and frame hive beekeeping. For the first time ever, the stamp perforation is made in the form of a honeycomb.
“Stamps dedicated to the history of the national beekeeping are issued in 50,000 postage stamp blocks. They will find a place in philatelists’ collections at home and abroad. We believe that philately will help us to emphasize the importance of beekeeping in our country and the careful attitude to Russia’s natural wealth,” said the Deputy Head of the Federal Communications Agency.
