March 20, an official cancellation ceremony was held of a souvenir sheet dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the Liberation of Bulgaria and the end of the Russo-Turkish War 1877–1878



The participants in the ceremony were Oleg Dukhovnitsky, Head of the Federal Communications Agency, and Boyko Kotsev, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Russian Federation.

The Russo-Turkish War 1877–1878 brought glory to such outstanding military personalities as Nikolai Grigoryevich Stoletov, Iosif Vladimirovich Gurko and Eduard Ivanovich Totleben. Their portraits are depicted on the stamps, the illustrated margins of the souvenir sheet feature a map of Plevna surroundings.

“Today we pay tribute to the victory of the troops that participated in the war and keep memory of those sacred pages of history by releasing a joint stamp issue between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Russian Federation. The souvenir sheet will fly all over the world strengthening friendly relations of the two Slavic nations – the Russians and the Bulgarians”, said the Head of Rossvyaz.
