November 12, a cancellation ceremony was held of an illustrated envelope to commemorate the 120th anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod branch of the Imperial Orthodox Palestinian Society



The cancellation ceremony was held at the Nizhny Novgorod Theological Seminary. The participants in the event were Sergey Baydakov, Deputy Chairman of the Imperial Orthodox Palestinian Society, Dmitry Panyshev, Deputy Head of the Federal Communications Agency, George, Metropolitan of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas, and Oleg Kolobov, Chairman of NN branch of the Imperial Orthodox Palestinian Society.

Nizhny Novgorod branch of the Imperial Orthodox Palestinian Society dates back to May 1882 when it was established due to the efforts of Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich of Russia. He became its first chairman and set the task of supporting Orthodox Christianity in the Holy Land and protecting it from the Catholic and Protestant missionary propaganda.

All throughout its history Nizhny Novgorod branch of the Imperial Orthodox Palestinian Society has been engaged in public and educative activities and cultivation of moral and Orthodox values among the compatriots.

The envelope features the logo of Nizhny Novgorod branch of the Imperial Orthodox Palestinian Society. The circulation of the unique envelope is 1000 copies.

We keep the memory of events and outstanding personalities of historical, cultural and Orthodox importance, and we attach great importance to promoting Russia's spiritual and cultural heritage as for a matter of the national pride', said the Deputy Head of the Federal Communications Agency.
