The ceremony took place in the Vakhtangov State Academic Theater. Mikhail Seslavinskiy, Head of the Federal Agency for Printing and Mass Communications; Vladimir Shelikhov, Deputy Head of the Federal Communications Agency; Boris Messerer, a theater artist, scene designer and the President of the Moscow Association of Theater, Cinema and TV Artists, took part in the event.
Bella Akhmadulina was one of the major Russian lyrical poets of the second half of the 20th century. Her poems can be characterized by intense lyricism, refined forms and obvious resonance with poetical tradition of the past. Akhmadulina’s works, together with the ones of Andrei Voznesensky, Yevgeny Yevtushenko, Robert Rozhdestvensky and Bulat Okudzhava, played a major part in restoring the social self-consciousness during the Khrushchev Thaw.
“Today, we have released a stamped postcard with a printrun of 5,000 copies depicting a portrait of Bella Akhmadulina by Leonid Tugalev, a Latvian expert photographer. I am positive this unique postcard stamp will become a philatelic rarity among collectors of the whole world and forever retain the memory of the today’s event”, said Mr. Shelikhov.
