March 27, an official cancellation ceremony of a stamp dedicated to the 25 th anniversary of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States took place

The ceremony took place in the headquarters of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS) located in Tauride Palace in the historic center of St Petersburg. Valentina Matvienko, Chair of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and Chair of the IPA CIS Council; Oleg Dukhovnitskiy, Head of the Federal Communications Agency; and members of the IPA CIS Council took part in the event



The Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS) was created on 27 March 1992. It is an interstate body of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The IPA CIS is an international organization comprising the parliaments of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Ukraine. The overarching mission of the IPA CIS is law-making and alignment of national laws in the CIS, as well as developing legal foundation of the common economic area in the CIS, as well as legal support of the free trade zone

I am sure this stamp will become unique, a philatelic rarity among collectors of the whole world, forever retaining the memory of the today’s event”, said Mr. Dukhovnitskiy

The postage stamp features the Tauride Palace and IPA CIS logo. Additionally, JSC “Marka” has manufactured first day covers and special cancellation postmarks for Moscow and St Petersburg.
