December 5, an official cancellation ceremony of a postage stamp dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Moscow

The ceremony took place in the Museum of the Great Patriotic War, Moscow. Vladimir Shelikhov, Deputy Head of the Federal Communications Agency; Alexander Kibovsky, Head of the Moscow City Department of Culture; Victor Filatov, veteran of the Great Patriotic War; as well as public figures and cultural luminaries, took part in the event.

The Battle of Moscow was the first strategic operation in World War II, which debunked the myth the Wehrmacht forces were invincible. The operation resulted in repelling and flinging back the enemy, and protecting the Soviet Union capital. Moscow was awarded an honorary title of a Hero City together with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star Medal in 1965.

“The Federal Communications Agency and the supervised FSUE PTC “Marka” annually issues various products dedicated to heroes and battles of the Great Patriotic War. The victory over the enemy was achieved thanks to the superiority of Soviet weapons, mass heroism and labor efforts of the people. We render homage to all those who sacrificed their lives for the future generations’ sake with this issue. We honour our veterans – battle-front veterans and home-front workers. We are amazed by their feat, courage and resilience”, said Mr. Shelikhov.
