August 30, an official cancellation ceremony of a postage stamp dedicated to Kazan Arena stadium took place

The event took place in Kazan. Oleg Dukhovnitskiy, Head of the Federal Communications Agency; Vladimir Leonov, Minister for Youth and Sport; and Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, took part in the event.

Kazan Arena is one of 12 Russian stadiums that will host the FIFA World Cup™ in 2018. Opened in 2013, it is one of Russia’s most capacious universal stadiums. It can accommodate 45,000 people; there are also VIP-areas at the stands. As envisioned by architects, the shape of Kazan stadium resembles a water-lily with a bird’s eye view. International and Russian sports competitions, concerts, different large-scale events are held in the territory of the stadium.

Mr. Dukhovnitskiy reminded that the Federal Communications Agency and FSUE PTC “Marka” implement a large-scale philatelic program for 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™, which “will encompass all the main events and unique elements of the future sports tournaments”. “I am sure not only will the postage stamp be added to the best collections of philatelists but also unite football fans in Russian and all around the world becoming a perfect reminder of a future ambitious football event”, he said.
