June 6, an official cancellation ceremony of a postage stamp dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute took place



The event was held during Red Square Book Festival in Moscow at the pavilion of fiction. Veniamin Kaganov, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation; Vladimir Shelikhov, Deputy Head of the Federal Communications Agency; Vitaly Kostomarov, the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute President; and Margarita Rusetskaya, the Rector of the Institute, signed the first day covers and applied souvenir postmarks on them.



The mission of the Institute is to spread and support Russian in the world, to teach it as a foreign language and to develop methodological materials and dictionaries. The Institute has prepared more than 150,000 graduates. Each year, young people from more than 90 countries come to study at the Institute.



“The stamp will be included in all international and Russian philatelic catalogs and will help promote the unique institute both among Russians and abroad, as well as to attract students to enroll and to obtain new knowledge”, said Mr. Shelikhov.



The postage stamp features a portrait of Alexander Pushkin and the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute building.



Additionally, FSUE PTC “Marka” has manufactured a first day cover and postmark for Moscow.
