April 27, an official cancellation ceremony of the postage stamp dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the Notary Office took place

Vladimir Shelikhov, Deputy Head of the Federal Communications Agency; Konstantin Korsik, Federal Notary Chamber President; and Daniel-Sédar Senghor, International Union of Notaries President, took part in the event.

The history of notarial service can be traced back to 1866, when Emperor Alexander II signed a “Statute on Notary Office”. Nowadays, the Notary Office in Russia is a leading modern public institution that performs public functions on behalf of the state. The Russian notary community amounts to approximately 8,000 notaries and more than 20,000 notary offices personnel.

“Thanks to the postal miniature, all Russian citizens will learn of the Russian Notary Office history and achievements. This stamp will be included into all philatelic catalogs and added to philatelists’ collections”, said Mr. Shelikhov.
