December 11, an official cancellation ceremony of a postage stamp dedicated to Luzhniki Stadium took place

The participants of the ceremony were Oleg Dukhovnitskiy, Deputy Head of the Federal Communications Agency; Nikolai Gulyaev, First Deputy Head of the Department of Physical Fitness and Sport; Dmitriy Godunov, Chief Operations Officer of Russia 2018 Organizing Committee; and Eduard Zenin, Luzhniki Sports Complex Deputy Director General. The stamp is issued as part of 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™. Stadiums series and dedicated to Luzhniki Stadium, which is to host 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ matches.



The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia тм will be the 21 st edition of the tournament and is set to take place from 14 June until 15 July 2018. For the first time in history, Russia will host the FIFA World Cup™ and it will also be the first time the tournament is held simultaneously across two continents — Europe and Asia. The tournament will be hosted at 12 stadiums of 11 Russian cities.



Luzhniki Stadium is one of the largest sports complexes both in Russia and abroad, and the main Moscow site where large-scale events are held, as well as a recreation and entertainment area. Opened in 1956, it is an architectural and park complex uniting more than 80 constructions and objects, the largest of which are Big and Small Sports Arenas, a Palace of Sports, Swimming Pool, Sport Complex Druzhba and Sports Village. Luzhniki Complex can accommodate approximately 80,000 people. Seats for persons with restricted mobility, skyboxes and corporate boxes of enhanced comfort will be mounted as well.
