The event took place in Monaco Stamps and Coins Museum as part of MONACOPHIL 2015 philatelic exhibition. Artyom Adibekov, World Association for the Development of Philately (WADP) President, Director General of FSUE PTC “Marka”; Ekaterina Semenikhina, Honorary Consul-General of Russia in Monaco; Jean Castellini, Minister for Finance and Economy of the Principality of Monaco; as well as Henri Fissore, Ambassador-at-large for the Minister of State of the Principality of Monaco signed the envelopes and applied a commemorative postmark on them. The issuance of an artistic stamped envelope became a part of the official program of the Year of Russia in Monaco ceremonies.
In 2015, a whole range of events was organized in Monaco aimed to emphasize the value of common cultural heritage, historic and cultural ties between the two states. The envelope features a Year of Russia in Monaco logo; it will go on sale in all Russian post offices, and Russian citizens will use them to send their postal correspondence. The print-run is two million copies. “The joint issue of the envelope is of major importance for cultural and educational activities in the two states. Through philatelic products, we tell the public of history and outstanding events of the states, and urge them to get to know their national spirits” said Mr. Adibekov.
