The ceremony was held as part of “The role of a public diplomacy in the development of international humanitarian cooperation” international forum, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Russian Cooperation. The event was attended by Oleg Dukhovnitskiy, Head of the Federal Communications Agency; and Lyubov Glebova, Head of the Federal Agency for CIS Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation.
The agency has come a long historical way from 1925, when it was created in and named Union Society of a International Cultural Communications (VOKS), and then the Union of Soviet Societies for Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries (USSF) to the current status of the Federal Agency for Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo).
“The release of the envelope has an important cultural and educational value. Through the philatelic products, we have perpetuated not only the anniversary of the agency, but also the importance of a public diplomacy, "- said Oleg Dukhovnitskiy, Head of the Federal Communications Agency.
An envelope with a picture of the Rossotrudnichestvo anniversary logo is issued in 2 million copies. From today, it is released into circulation in every post office of the country, and the citizens of our country will be able to use the envelopes to send their correspondence throughout Russia.
“The role of a public diplomacy in the development of international humanitarian cooperation” Forum was attended by over 500 delegates from 100 countries. Among the foreign participants of the Forum are representatives of foreign countries friendship with Russia societies, public authorities, media, parliamentarians, artists, specialists in Russian language and literature.
