November 18, a cancellation ceremony of a postage stamp dedicated to Vladimir the Great, the Christianizer of Rus’ was held




The event was held in Moscow in the framework of the international conference “Prince Vladimir. Civilizational choice” organized by the Churchwide Postgraduate & Doctoral School of Saints Cyril and Methodius, with the participation of the Russian Historical Society, the State Historical Museum and the State Tretyakov Gallery.



The participants of the ceremony were Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia; Sergey Naryshkin, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation; Alexander Beglov, Plenipotentiary Representative of President of the Russian Federation in the Central Federal District; Ilarion, Metropolitan of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate; and Juvenaliy, Metropolitan Krutitsy and Kolomna. The conference was attended by Oleg Dukhovnitskiy, Head of the Federal Communications Agency.



This postage stamp was issued by FSUE “Marka” Publishing and Trading Centre, supervised by the Federal Communications Agency, and dedicated to the 1000th anniversary of the repose of St. Vladimir. The stamp depicts a portrait of the Saint Vladimir the Great, the images of the baptism of the prince and Russia, as well as the old Russian military accessories and Orthodox worship attributes.



“This issue has got the great historical, cultural and educational value. By the philatelic products we tell the public about the history and the outstanding events of our country”, - said the Head of the Federal Communications Agency.
