November 17, a cancellation ceremony dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Zlatoust Arms Factory was held

The participants of the ceremony were Dmitry Panyshev, Deputy Head of the Russian Communications Agency; Alexander Ribakov, Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce of the Russian Federation; Valeriy Tomeya, Director General of the Zlatoust Arms Factory; Olga Astafieva, Deputy Head of the exhibition and promotion department of the “National Art Crafts of Russia” Association; and Lidiya Skoblikova, a native of Zlatoust, the only six-time Olympic champion in the history of speed skating, the absolute champion of the IX Winter Olympic Games in Innsbruck in 1964.

Zlatoust Arms Factory is one of the oldest companies in the South Ural. Melee weapons, both ceremonial and award ones, have been produced for two centuries. Many products by the Zlatoust Arms Factory craftsmen are considered unique and are kept in world’s most famous museums.

In the 21st century, the Zlatoust Arms Factory remains the only company to have steel-plate engraving. The subjects of steel engraving, which appeared in 1930s, are various – landscapes, heraldry, religious motifs. Decorative wall panel pictures, souvenir products and decorative dishware are popular both in Russian and abroad.

The stamp depicts an anniversary dagger “The 200th Anniversary of Zlatoust Arms Factory” and a factory building on the background.

“I’m sure, that this postage stamp will occupy a worthy place in the collections of philatelists and contribute to the preservation of the history of our country”, - said Dmitry Panyshev, Deputy Head of the Federal Communications Agency.

In addition to the issue of a postage stamp an illustrated cover is prepared for the release by FSUE “Marka” Publishing and Trading Centre, with a postage stamp and an FDC with cancellation (Moscow; Zlatoust city, Chelyabinsk region) inside.
