A cancellation ceremony of a souvenir sheet dedicated to 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ takes place in Moscow




Oleg Dukhovnitskiy, Head of the Federal Communications Agency, and Alexey Sorokin, Director General of the Russia 2018 Organizing Committee cancelled a souvenir sheet with one stamp dedicated to 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ as part of a large-scale event program.



It is the first issue being a part of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ Philatelic Program.

"It has become a worldwide tradition that issues of philatelic items accompany all major sports events. The Federal Communications Agency and FSUE PTC “Marka” have been entrusted with a great honor and responsibility, the mission of delivering the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ Philatelic Program" – said Mr. Dukhovnitskiy.


 
More than 130 types of products will be manufactured for 4-year period from 2015 till 2018. There will be 58 postage stamps and 4 souvenir sheets, 13 first day covers, 23 postcards and 34 artistic stamped envelopes, as well as various souvenir sets, booklets and a host of other items. Total product volume will exceed 25 million units.



The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russiaтм will be the 21st edition of the tournament and is set to take place from 14 June until 15 July 2018. For the first time in history, Russia will host the FIFA World Cup™ and it will also be the first time the tournament is held simultaneously across two continents — Europe and Asia.



The souvenir sheet has a round “ball” shape and the stamp bears an image of the ultimate prize of the FIFA World CupTM – the Official Trophy.

Additionally, FSUE PTC “Marka” will manufacture an illustrated cover with the souvenir sheet and first day covers with cancellations in all 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ Host Cities (Moscow) inside.
