Russian postage stamps, envelopes and postal cards were decorated the exposure of the State Museum of Sports

FSUE “Marka” Publishing and Trading Centre supervised by the Federal Communications Agency donated a unique collection of stamps, artistic stamped envelopes, postal cards on sports subjects to the museum at the request of the Ministry of Sports.

The funds of the State Museum of Sports were replenished by more than fifty kinds of postage stamps and stamped production dedicated to the major international and domestic sporting events.

Popularization of sports heritage of Russia, as a matter of national pride, is one of the foundations of the philatelic movement. The issue of postage stamps allows to preserve the memory and to convey the main events in world of sport and the achievements of Russian athletes to the main public, as well as contributes to the promotion of healthy lifestyles.

Every year more than twenty subjects of postage stamps, envelopes and postal cards dedicated to sports tournaments are to be released.

The State Museum of Sports was established in 1987, by the resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR and revived in 2010, due to the efforts of the Ministry of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy of the Russian Federation as well as to the enthusiasm of the team of sports historians. The permanent exhibition was opening May 6, 2010. It allows everyone to familiarize with the history of the national sport, heroes and victories.

Nowadays, the State Organization "The State Museum of Sports" has more than 80,000 unique items symbolizing tradition and glory of the national sport.
