June 25, 2015, a cancellation ceremony of a postage stamp dedicated to the Year of Literature in Russia was held in Moscow

The event was attended by Oleg Dukhovnitskiy, Head of the Federal Communications Agency; Mikhail Seslavinskiy, Head of the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications; Vladimir Tolstoy, Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation/Chairman of the organizing committee of the festival "Books of Russia".



The cancellation ceremony was held at the Red Square in Moscow within the opening of the festival "Books of Russia".

In accordance with Presidential Decree 2015 declared the Year of Literature in Russia, this is one of the most important cultural events, whose main tasks are to draw attention to reading, to stimulate interest of Russians to the books.



"Russian literature is the inheritance of our country and one of the most important components of its cultural heritage. Today's event and a symbol of the Year of the literature will remain forever due to a postage stamp"- said Oleg Dukhovnitskiy in his welcoming speech.

The stamp depicts the logo of the "Year of Literature 2015" with the profiles of Alexander Pushkin, Nikolai Gogol and Anna Akhmatova made in the colors of the Russian tricolor. From today, the stamp is available in all post offices of the country and will be used for the correspondence.
