March 21, a postage stamp “Dzerzhinsky Independent Operational Purpose Division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia” is to be released into circulation
The division conducts its history since 1924. It participated in the Soviet-Finnish War (1939-1940). During the Great Patriotic War, the division was fight against the Nazi invaders in the West and Volkhov fronts.
June 24, 1945, division’s regiments marched through Red Square and laid the banner of Nazi Germany to the foot of the mausoleum during the Victory Day parade.
The division was awarded the Order of Lenin (1939), the Order of the Red Banner (1944), the Order of the October Revolution (1985), the Order of Zhukov (2014). Thousands of soldiers and officers of the division are awarded war orders and medals, twelve of them are granted titles of Hero of the Soviet Union and nineteen of them are granted titles of Hero of the Russian Federation for valor and courage shown when performing military duty.
The stamp depicts the logo of Dzerzhinsky Independent Operational Purpose Division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, the Order of Lenin, the Order of Zhukov, the Order of the October Revolution and the Order of the Red Banner.
An illustrated cover has been prepared for the release with one postage stamp and an FDC with cancellation (Moscow) inside.
