Summer track and field championships are held by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). The competition is held every two years and last 9 days. From 10th to 18th of August 2013 the World Championships will take place in Moscow for the first time at the Luzhniki stadium, where the North and South Sports Cores will be used, as well as the Sportgorodok and the Grand Sports Arena. The stadium will accommodate more than 33,000 people on its bleachers. The competition will be attended by athletes from 201 countries and 47 medal events will be held.
