On April 17, 2013 the first session of the Management Committee of the World Association for Development of Philately (WADP) of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) was taken place in the UPU (in Bern, Switzerland) under the chairmanship of Russia.
The representatives of the postal administrations of Aland Islands, Bulgaria, Belgium, Hungary, Denmark, Indonesia, Luxemburg, Netherlands, Russian Federation, Rumania, Tunisia, Uruguay, Ukraine, France, Finland, Switzerland, Sweden and Ecuador have attended it.
At the session in the course of the common discussion “The plan of the philately development for the cycle 2013-2016” has been adopted. The distribution of work in WADP was implemented and the leaders of the working groups created in the accordance with the priorities of the Doha cycle were elected. Thus, Uruguay has been elected as the leader of the working group “Philatelic press and postal operators”, the Tunisia has been elected as the leader of the working group “Training programs”, the Postal administration of the Russian Federation has presided again the working group “Market Development and Trends” and France has been adopted as the leader of the working group “Modern Stamps: Technological Innovation”.
A number of questions concerning the system operation of the World Numbering System (WNS), the organization of international competitions classes for issuing postal administrations UPU member countries and their territories have been considered and the date of the next session was fixed.
The WADP report represented by the Chairman has been adopted at the Postal Operation Council (POC) of the Committee 2 (Market Development).
