On November 30, two souvenir sheets with one stamp dedicated to the emblems of Moscow and Saint-Petersburg are issued within the series “Emblems of the subjects and towns of the Russian Federation”

The emblem as well as hymn and flag are official symbols of the subjects of the Russian Federation. Each emblem is examined in the Heraldic President’s Council. The officially approved emblem is entered in the State Heraldic Register. The colors, color combinations and the turns of figures are used in the image of the emblem in accordance with the heraldry norms. The basis of the emblem is heraldic shield. 

 

The postage stamp dedicated to the emblem of Moscow depicts contemporary emblem of the town, on the margins of the souvenir sheet there are emblems of the following years: 1730, 1781, 1883,1924.

The postage stamp dedicated to the emblem of Saint-Petersburg depicts contemporary emblem of the capital, on the margins of the souvenir sheet there are emblems of the following years: 1712, 1730, 1780, 1856.
