On September 12, 2012, Vadim A. Jacobs died in his 74th year of life.

His high personal and professional qualities - extensive knowledge and expertise, analytical mind, unbending will, justice and deep honesty - have earned him a reputation and sincere respect of friends and colleagues.

Vadim A. Jacobs was known in Russia and abroad as a leading specialist in stationery of the USSR and the Russian Federation. He was the author of dozens of directories and reference books, co-editor of "Big philatelic dictionary" published in 1980.  Being bright enthusiast, over the past twenty years, Vadim created and published popular among collectors "Bulletin of philately".

For more than forty years, his articles have appeared in the magazine "Philately" ("Philately of the USSR"). Last year of life Vadim devoted to active work in the group of authors of the Catalogue of the state signs of postal payment. He made an invaluable contribution to the development of volumes of the State catalogue, which are now prepared for publication - it was his research which formed the basis for the description of signs of postal payment on pre-stamped envelopes of the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation, on the pre-stamped postcards of the USSR and Russia.

To all who knew him, Vadim A. Jacobs will remain indifferent, responsive and highly moral man.

Team of FSUE Publishing and Trading Centre "Marka" expresses its deep condolences to the family of Vadim A. Jacobs.
