The history of Russian customs begins at the end of the 10th century, with the first mention of trade duties, which were levied in the Old Russian state of consumer goods on their way from producer to consumer.
In the middle of the 13th century the Mongol-Tatars introduced their own duties - tamgas. Over time, this name was transferred to all fees that received the name of customs, and the place of their collection - customs. Having traveled a centuries-long path of development, the Russian customs can rightfully be proud of its history, traditions, achievements and dedicated employees.
At all times, state, political and public figures, lawyers, economists, scientists, architects, ordinary customs officers stood guard over the economic interests of the state. Many of them went down in history as eminent figures who made a significant contribution to the development of the customs business of Russia.
