Luna-25 is a part of the Russian lunar program, the first Russian lunar mission on-going at the Lavochkin Association, JSC, for the exploration and practical use of the Moon and near-lunar space by automatic interplanetary stations.
The Luna-25 station has been designed using only Russian equipment and the latest achievements in space instrumentation engineering.
AIS Luna-25 was launched on August 11 of 2023 from the Vostochny Cosmodrome by a Soyuz2.1b launch vehicle with a Fregat upper stage that put the station on a flight trajectory to the Moon. On August 20, during the transition to the landing orbit, the station ceased to exist having collided with the surface of the Moon.
The postage stamp provides an image of automatic interplanetary station Luna-25 on a mission to the Moon.
