The Yeni-Kale lighthouse is located on Cape Fonar, the easternmost point of the Crimean peninsula at the entrance to Kerch Strait. In 1820, in order to enable the ship passage via Kerch Strait, a lighthouse was built, named after the Yeni-Kale fortress 5 km away to the south.
The postal stamp provides image of the Yeni-Kale lighthouse against the map of the Crimean peninsula and the wind pattern.
