Ivan Kozhedub (1920-1991) was a Soviet military commander, Air Marshal (1985), flying ace, triple Hero of the Soviet Union. In the autumn of 1940, he graduated from the Chuguev military aviation school. Since November of 1942, he served in the 240th fighter aviation regiment of 302nd fighter aviation division. By the end of the Great Patriotic War, the Guards Major Ivan Kozhedub made 330 combat missions, shot down 62 enemy planes in 120 air battles.
In 1956, he graduated from the Military Academy of the General Staff and continued to serve in the Air Force.
