The International Federation of Philately (French: Fédération internationale de philatélie, abbreviated FIP) is the most representative international association of philatelists, founded in 1926. Today, the organization includes representatives from 95 countries around the world. The official languages of the FIP are English, Spanish, German, Russian, and French.
The supreme body of the FIP is the Congress, which meets annually in the capitals or major cities of the Federation’s member states. To coordinate day-to-day operations of the FIP, a Secretariat has been established with its legal seat being determined by the FIP Congress. As of today, the Secretariat is located in Zurich, Switzerland.
Every year, world and international philatelic exhibitions are arranged under the sponsorship of the FIP. International philatelic exhibitions organized under the auspices of the FIP have been held since 1927. In Russia, the first World Philatelic Exhibition took place in Moscow in 1997.
