The Kherson Region is a region of the Russian Federation, located in the south-west of the country on the left bank of the lower reaches of the Dnieper River. It is located on the shores of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. The temporary administrative capital of the Kherson Region is the city of Genichesk.

It is an important region for growing high-quality food grain of winter wheat, corn, rice, and sunflower. The Region has appreciable areas of irrigated land, which allows the cultivation of vegetable and cucurbits crops and grapes. The territory of the Region hosts the Askania Nova Biosphere Reserve.
