The Bryansk Machine-Building Plant (BMZ) was founded on July 20, 1873. It was then that the permission for the establishment of the Joint-Stock Company of the Bryansk Rail-Rolling, Iron-Working and Mechanical Plant was signed and its charter was approved. The founders of the Company were P. Gubonin and V. Golubev. Later on, they were joined by V. Tenishev and V. Krakht.
Today, the BMZ is the leader in transport machine building; it is a part of JSC Transmashholding and holds leading positions in its industry. The BMZ has arranged exclusive to Russia large-scale production of mainline freight and shunting locomotives. The plant also produces spare parts for railway transport.
The postage stamp provides an image of the TEM23 diesel locomotive against the background of the historic building of the Bryansk Machine-Building Plant.
