Sergei Perets (1969-2002) was a commander of the motorized platoon of the Special Purpose Police Unit, militia captain, Hero of the Russian Federation.
The Presidential Decree of November 8, 2003, awarded Captain Sergei Perets the title of Hero of the Russian Federation (posthumously) "for brave and decisive actions in the course of performance of official duty and combat tasks during the counter-terrorist operation in the Chechen Republic under conditions attended by a real risk to life, displaying courage and heroism, and saving the lives of the personnel”.
