The diplomatic relations between Russia and Armenia were established on April 3, 1992. The two countries are interrelated by allied partnership. More than 200 interstate, intergovernmental and interdepartmental treaties and agreements have been signed. Traditionally, an important place in Russo-Armenian relations belongs to cultural and humanitarian contacts.
The joint issue of the stamps is dedicated to architecture of the two countries.
The Armenian postage stamps feature the Church of St. Catherine in St. Petersburg and the Saint Michael the Archangel’s Church in Gyumri.
The Russian postage stamps feature the Holy Cross Church in Samara and the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Vanadzor.
