Afanasy Afanasyevich Fet (1820−1892) was a Russian lyrical poet and translator, memoirist, and corresponding member of the Petersburg Academy of Sciences (1886).
In 1840, the first collection of Fet's poems, Lyric Pantheon, was published, and in 1850 his second collection, Poems, came out, which received favorable reviews from critics in magazines. From the end of 1841, Fet's poems were regularly published in the Moskvityanin magazine, and subsequently in Otechestvennye Zapiski. Shortly after, Fet's poems began to be also published in Sovremennik. In 1856, a new collection, Poems by A.A. Fet, edited by I.S. Turgenev came out, which was reissued in 1863 in two volumes.
