The Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ in the city of Omsk was built in honor of the two-thousand-year anniversary of the birth of Jesus Christ. It is one of the attractions of the city and a popular place of pilgrimage. The authors of the cathedral are A.M. Karimov and A.M. Slinkin.
The iconostasis of the temple, made by the painters from Sofrino, is the highest and largest in the number of icons in it in the Omsk-Tara diocese. His project was developed by graduates of the Moscow Theological Academy, icon painters Vladimir Guriev and Dionisy Sevastyanov. Above the main entrance to the cathedral there is a bell tower (more than 46 meters high), the bells of which are carried far around.
Despite the relatively young age of the cathedral, all the solemn events of the diocesan life of the city take place in it.
The postage stamp depicts the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ in Omsk.
