Natural Park “Lena Pillars” is located along the banks of the Lena River in the central part of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The main showplace of this park is an extraordinarily beautiful range of vertical cliffs. Its’ height is over 150 m, and age - at least 500 million years. Pillars formed on the territory of the Siberian platform under the influence of the huge differences of the annual temperatures and water penetration. Lena Pillars separated by steep ravines and deep river valleys.
There are such notable sites in the park as the “tukulan” sands (dunes) with cold northern areas of sandy desert, camps of primitive man in the mouth of the creek Deering Yuryakh, unique permafrost ecosystems.
July 2, 2012 a Natural Park “Lena Pillars” was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
An illustrated cover has been prepared for the release with cancelled FDCs (Moscow, Yakutsk) inside.
