Izborsk iz a large village located 30 kilometers from Pskov, near Gorodischenskoe Lake. It was first mentioned in 862.
The State Historical and Architectural, Natural and Landscape Museum Preserve “Izborsk” is located in the village and its surroundings. The center of the village is Izborsko-Malskaya Valley with its unique natural, historical and architectural monuments. The ensemble of the valley has preserved thousand years old town-planning structure, traditional peasant settlements and merchant estates, religious building and fortifications.
