German Titov (1935-2000) is the Soviet cosmonaut, Hero of the Soviet Union, colonel-general of aviation, candidate of military sciences.
In August 1961, on the spacecraft "Vostok-2" he made the second in the history of the world cosmonautics space flight after Y.A. Gagarin, covered more than 700 thousand kilometers and accomplished 17 earth orbits. During the flight his call sign was “Eagle”. A month short of 26 years old at launch, he remains the youngest of all the astronauts who flied in space.
