Trust "Arctic coal" was founded according to Paris treaty of 1920 when sovereignty of Norway was established in Spits Bergen and other countries were granted the right to conduct economical and research activity at archipelago. "Barentsburg" mine, called in the honor of a well-known researcher of Arctic Villem Barents, was founded by Dutch and the job has been done there by "Arctic coal" trust since 1932.
