In 1965 Sherman Poppen noticed his daughter trying to slide down the mountain standing on the sledge. He linked together children’s mountain skies, put a rubber rug on them, fixed a rope “for ruling” to their fore-part and gave the new “slides” as a Christmas present to his daughter Wendy. That’s how Snurfer appeared and it made its debut as the first industrial snowboard in 1966. As surfing gained popularity at the end of 60s – beginning of 70s, more and more people were carried away by the idea of snow surf-riding. The first National Snow surf-riding Championship took place at the Suicide Six ski resort.
