№ 1016-1021. 60th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945

At the end of April, 1945 the vehement battles started on the territory of Berlin. The Banner of victory was raised on the Reichstag on the 30th of April. The enemy’s resistance was broken out by Soviet troops in Berlin on the 2nd of May and the Act of unconditional surrender of the fascist Germany was singed in the suburbs of Berlin Karlshorst.

The 2nd World War was finished in Europe on the 9th of May. This day the Soviet Union celebrated the victory over the fascist Germany.

The Kalininsky sector of the front was founded from the troops of the right wing of the Western front which defended Moscow from the North-West. The Kalininsky front was renamed into the 1st Baltic on the 20th of October, 1943.

Tens of thousands of Muscovites came to the square at the Byelorussian railway station to meet the warriors – winners.

The victory parade took place on the Red Square in Moscow on the 24th of June to celebrate the victory of the Soviet army over the fascist Germany. The troops of the front-line forces, the Navy and the Moscow garrison took place in this parade.
