The Souvenir sheet features the process of raising the Victory flag above the city, "Pavlov's House" bas-relief and a Stalingrad Defence Medal. The house was named after a guards sergeant Ya. F. Pavlov who was a commander of the machine-gun squad of the 42nd rifle Guards. During the defensive actions in Stalingrad Ya. F. Pavlov and three officers won away from the enemy the only four-storeyed building not smashed up in the air-raids and held the position for three days, as the building was of strategic importance. The Stalingrad Defence Medal is given to all those who took part in the defence, namely the Red Army soldiers, bluejackets and also civilians. The memorial to the Stalingrad battle heroes (made by Ye. V. Vuchetich, Ya. B. Beloplsky and V. A. Demin) was inaugurated on the Mamayev kurgan in 1967.
