P.S. Nahimov (1802-1855), a Russian admiral. During the Crimean War he defeated the Turkish fleet at the Sinop battle (1853). The stamp features his portrait with fragments of bas-relief on the plinth of his statue in Sevastopol (by N.M. Tomsky and A.V. Arefiev. 1959).
