The stamp features a composition of the most prominent architectural pieces and sculptures of the Old Tula. On the left there is the Odoyevskaya Tower of the Tula Kremlin (1514-1521), on the background there is the Dormition Cathedral (1762-1764) (architects of both unknown) and the belfry (1772-1776). On the right there is the monument to Peter the Great (1912, bronze, by R.R.Bach), on the background there is the church of Our Lady of Kazan (1838-1856, by V.F.Fedoseyev). In the middle of the composition there is a cartouch with the words "850th Anniversary of Tula", featuring samples of weapon which brought Tula's armourers international recognition and the famous Tula's samovars which have been produced there since 19th century.
