The Tufted Duck is a common kind of ducks but is spread irregularly: at some basins the birds are rather numerous, at other it is rare. The Tufted Duck usually lives at large lakes and impoundments with opulent vegetation. Nests by groups. Lays eggs in May – June, the sitting lasts for 23-25 days. It is only the pen-duck who cares of small birds.
