Germany. Cologne. A cathedral. The largest of all Gothic cathedrals in Germany. The five-nave basilica is 136m length, the height of a nave reaches 43 m. The construction of the cathedral started in 1248, but it was completely finished only in 1880. Among the first builders the following people are known: Gerard (worked in 1257), his son Arnolf (worked in 1308), Michael (worked in 1350), Nikolay and Iohan. The cathedral was partially completed in the 19th century. New technology allowed the builders to lift two symmetric towers up to height of 160m.
